Each year, we recommend you bring your Toyota, Lexus and Scion vehicles in for a winter checkup. We specialize in these cars and trucks and we want to ensure you have safe and comfortable travels. So whether you’re driving to visit family for the holidays or it’s just been a while since your car has been looked at, come in and see us for a 5 point winter check up.
- Wipers – We’ve already had the first rains of the winter. Are the windshield wipers on your Toyota, Lexus or Scion up to the task? Long summers tend to dry out wipers, making them brittle and quick to crack. We’ll inspect your wipers, ensure the fluid system is working and replace anything else that is needed.
- Hoses – We had a long summer with temperatures in the 100’s and now with the winter upon us we’ve already seen nights in the 20’s. It’s important to remember that rubber hoses will crack and fail over time. And temperature variations speed that process up a little. With a quick inspection from our trained eyes we can let you know right away if your hoses are okay.
- Belts – Accessory drive belts are important to every engine. They allow external components like power steering pumps, water pumps and air conditioning units to be driven from the main engine pulley. Accessory belts should be replaced at regular intervals to avoid breakage. Unlike some components, belt replacement is a preventative maintenance item. In other words, they are designed to be accessible for regular replacement; they are intended to be replaced before breakage.
- Tires – We all know the importance of tire care, rotation and maintenance. And like most parts of the car, tires are intended to be replaced at regular intervals. Again, this is an important part of our inspection to uncover any underlying issues, like with wheel alignment. But most importantly, we just want to make sure there’s enough tread life left to get you safely through the winter.
- Heater – Your cars heating system is just that, a system. It includes several components from hoses and controls to the heater core itself. In order for everything to work properly and keep your family warm during the cold holiday nights it’s important to ensure proper operation and inspect the system.
Call us today to schedule your winter checkup and we’ll get you in and out and back on the road safely.
I’m an auto mechanic too and I found this post quite helpful. Sometimes it’s hard for customers to understand just how important a tune up on their car or truck will be. It costs more to provide larger repair services so tune ups and inspections save money by finding problems before they get too big. Plus you can worry less about your car breaking down and having to rent a car or be without one for a few days sometimes.
Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment Evan. Glad you found our blog helpful!
